Vintage makeup look you can adopt today

Vintage style makeup is popular with many movie stars and singers. If you’re into vintage clothing and style yourself,.

It’s interesting to see how much makeup changes over time and how you can create some very different looks with the same products that you already have and between the flushed cheeks of the ’30s and the gothic-grunge vibes of the ’90s, many of the makeup looks that defined decades are still giving us tons of inspiration today.

Heavy Blush

If you thought the blush contouring technique is a newfound obsession, then allow us to correct you. The flushed, healthy look was huge in the ’30s. Now while many prefer to go more subtle with their blush it’s actually very trendy to go a bit more heavy-handed and opt for a modern monochrome look. Apply the blush from the apples of your cheeks, upwards, towards your temples. This pop of color is a stunning vintage makeup look for spring and summer.

Bushy Brows

Over the decades, eyebrows have had an evolution of their own, and women in the ’60s knew when to put down the tweezers. Their brows were thick, lush, full, and perfectly face-framing, and we love the undone look of ’em today. With the ‘clean girl’ aesthetics trending right now, bushy eyebrows are a thing again! Eyebrows are essential in giving your face shape and dimension, and bushy eyebrows are a great way to enhance the retro eye makeup look.

Red Alert

We are all familiar with iconic pictures of Marilyn Monroe looking glamorous in a bold red lip.

Today, nothing spells glamor like a red lip. From cherry reds to brick tones, the options are endless. First rising to popularity in the 40s and 50s with winged liner, red lips have been around for eons for a good reason.

You can pair a red lip with any look, a muted nude look or even a high shine one. It is sure to make you look drop-dead gorgeous.

Gloss Over it

Gloss is such a 90s thing, right? While our lips may be covered more than usual, gloss isn’t going anywhere. The lip glosses today are dominated by peachy, pink, and neutral tones, as compared to the garish and metallic shades from back in the day.

While lip gloss back in the day was dominated by garish, metallic shades, the 2022 version veers towards natural peachy and pink tones.

Wear this trend with freshly moisturized skin, a sprinkling of highlighter and a few swipes of mascara for that sun-kissed glow.

Eyes That Slayed

Bright, neon, spunky eye makeup was all over fashion magazines and movies in the 70s and 80s. Bold eyeliners were the rage and the graphic eyeliner looks that were super popular then are back in style with a new burst of creativity.

This included bright makeup looks too, namely bold eyeshadows. You could also have fun with pops of color like using your favorite blue eye pencil as a kohl or simply on the winged tip of your eyeliner, to bring back some of that retro drama, and while a dramatic winged liner is always a classic a pulled back soft smokey eye and just a touch of mascara looks good on everyone no matter the season or decade.
